A Point of Interest, or POI, is a specific location that you may find useful or interesting during your journey.

Points of Interest are places like hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, tourist venues, parking lots; even cash machines.

Our sat nav systems have a large amount of POI’s stored in memory. Certain POI’s, such as hotel chains or petrol stations, can be displayed on the map with their specific company logos or with a 3D icon.

You can search for a POI by name, category or via the Destination Search according to the city. This is helpful when trying to locate a hotel, store or even a golf course without an immediate address at hand.

The Vicinity Search displays specific POIs in the surrounding vicinity. You can also search by cuisine-type restaurant listings.

City Maps enable you to view selected European capital cities and metropolis areas in closer detail.

On a 25 – 50 metre scale, a city map includes footprints of buildings and the actual geometry of roads like the examples below.



City maps are designed to help you with orientation; another way of guiding you easily to your destination.

More than 1,000 of Europe’s most famous landmarks have been included in our navigation software.

These landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Coliseum in Rome are available when navigating in Twin View (3D Mode).

Bluetooth is an industrial specification that provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, PCs, printers, digital music devices and game consoles over a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency.

Bluetooth offers you the convenience of true wireless in car communication, without having to hook up your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to any other hands-free kit, headgear or earpiece.

All the models in our Bluetooth range include a microphone.

Good sat nav systems depend on a multitude of information from a number of sources; not just GPS signals.

Our systems make use of multiple sensors which gather important information about your car during your journey. This makes sure that you get to your destination with pinpoint accuracy.

It’s particularly important, for example, when your GPS signal is hindered; when you’re driving through a tunnel or are parked in an underground parking lot. Because there are multiple sensors, our system always knows where you are.

TMC stands for Traffic Messaging Channel.

Our system’s TMC receiver keeps you updated on current traffic events and suggest alternative routes.

In countries where real-time TMC traffic information is broadcast (see the list below), the system indicates the traffic events on a map within a range of 150 kilometres and presents you with an alternative route in order to avoid the traffic event.

A special menu function lists all the current traffic events in the area and even sorts them by ‘Distance’ or “event”.

You and your passengers can enjoy different AV sources at the same time.

For example, whilst you and the front passenger listen to the radio and use the navigation system, the rear seat passengers can watch a DVD or TV.

While playing CDs, the AVIC automatically rips (at 4 times speed) a CD to the hard disk drive. In approximately 15 minutes, the entire CD and labels and track titles are added (using Gracenote Media Database auto-titling).


You can also search by track, album name, artist name, genre and your own favourites list; using the music library gives you fast and easy access to the songs you want to hear.

You can also use the Voice Command for all the basic functions within the Music Library; just
speak the name of the track you want to hear, and the system will play it.

You can give voice instructions and control the complete system, without taking your hands off the wheel!
