Firmware and Software Downloads for NavGate F-Series

This information is designed to work exclusively with AVIC-F900BT and AVIC-F700BT sold in Europe (including Russia). There is no need to perform this upgrade if your product is already equipped with the version 1.900000 or higher.

To check and install the application update just follow the six easy steps below:

1. Check the current Application:

• Switch on your Navigation unit by switching on the ignition of your car. If you don’t see “Top Menu” displayed on top of the display, press the”MENU” button
• Select "Settings"
• Select "System Settings"
• Select "Service Information"
• You should see:

Map version: 01.00xxxx
Version: 1.xxxx00

If the version displayed is 1.900000 or higher, then your product is equipped with the latest version and there is no need for any upgrade.

2. Download the Update:

If your browser does not automatically start the download process, be sure that your browser or security software is set to allow downloading of files from this web site.

You can also right-click the link above and select "Save Target As" to start the download process.

Remark: Due to the large file size (211 MB) the download may take long (approximately 40min) depending on the connection speed.

3. Check the Software File:

Check the file size (see table) of the downloaded application software file AVIC-F700BT_AVIC-F900_APL_1900000.zip by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. (Download again if the file size is incorrect.)

4. Decompress the file

Once you have downloaded the file to your computer, locate the file on your hard disk drive and double click the file to decompress it. (If you do not have a decompression utility installed on your computer, you can easily download one for free.)

5. Create the Update SD-card (updating is not possible using USB connection or CD)

To create an update SD-card, you will need:

• A PC with SD-card reader/writer
• One formatted blank SD-card with minimum capacity of 512 MB
• Supported OS: Windows: 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, Vista, MacOS

Put the SD-card in the SD-card reader/writer.
Copy the unzipped folder “LPUE080” to the empty SD-card.

6. Update the Software of your navigation unit

Warning: to complete the firmware update procedure, you will have to reset your navigation unit; this will clear the settings for the AV Source, like the FM presets, AV1/iPod setting, EQ settings, …

• Turn the ignition of your car off
• Put the SD-card which contains the update files into the unit
• Switch on the ignition of your car
• The update will start automatically and takes about 9 minutes.

Note: Do not turn off or disconnect the power, or remove the SD card while the upgrade is in progress, as this will cause the upgrade to stop and might cause additional updates to fail.

There are several steps in the update process, but please wait until the update is completely finished and the unit restarts automatically.

The upgrade consists of following steps:

• File checking (time: about 1min)
• Deleting original files (time: about 1min)
• Copying new files / updating APL (time: about 5min)
• Copying new files / updating CEIMAGE (time: about 20sec)
• Wince Upgrade(time: about 30sec)

When the upgrade is completely finished the unit will restart automatically.
Turn off the ignition from your car / demo board
Remove the SD card from the set
Push the reset button (upper left) for 5 seconds.

The upgrade was successful if the Version (see point 1) has become 1.900000.

Your unit is now completely up to date.

Questions & Answers:
Q : What if my set does not switch on automatically after updating the software or starts up more than once ?
A : Turn off the ignition key and turn on again – the set should start up now.

Q : What if the set switches off during software upgrade ?
A : Turn off the ignition key and turn on again – the set should restart the update.

Q : What if I cannot upgrade my set / the set does not show the start up screen after more than 1 attempt ?
A : Please contact your local Pioneer service organisation for a product check-up.

Warning: make sure you don’t use the AVIC-F700BT/-900BT Firmware file to update your AVIC-F500BT. Both firmware files have the same version number but when installing an incorrect version on your AVIC-F500BT, your navigation unit will become unusable and you will have to contact an Authorized Service Centre.

We strongly advise to connect your AC adapter during updating the AVIC-F500BT, to make sure that there is no power failure during the installation of the new firmware.

• Update the Software using the SD-card containing the Software update files.
• Press and hold the power button until the AVIC-F500BT switches off.
• Put the SD-card which contains the update files into the unit
• Press and hold the power button until the AVIC-F500BT switches on.
• The update will start automatically and takes about 9 minutes.

Note: Do not turn off or disconnect the power, or remove the SD card while the upgrade is in progress, as this will cause the upgrade to stop and might cause additional updates to fail.

This software update improves Bluetooth connectivity Blackberry phones.
To check and install Bluetooth Software update, just follow the easy steps below:

1. Check the current Application:

• Switch on your Navigation unit by switching on the ignition of your car. If you don’t see “Top Menu” displayed on top of the display, press the “menu” button to open top menu.
• Press “Phone” and “Phone Settings” to open Phone Settings menu.
• Make sure “Bluetooth On/Off” is set to “On”.
• Scroll down the menu by pressing the downward arrow on the left.
• Select "Bluetooth Software Update"
• You should see the screen like below

If the version displayed is SW330 or higher, then your product is equipped with the software which has improved compatibility with Blackberry and there is no need for any upgrade.

6. Update the Bluetooth Software of your navigation unit:

• Turn the ignition of your car off
• Put the SD-card which contains the update files into the unit
• Turn the ignition on.
• Press “Phone” and “Phone Settings” in the main menu to open Phone Settings menu.
• Make sure “Bluetooth On/Off” is set to “On”.
• Scroll down the menu by pressing the downward arrow on the left.
• Select "Bluetooth Software Update"
• Press “Software Update” button on screen to start updating.
• Update takes about 3 minutes.

Note: Do not turn off or disconnect the power, or remove the SD card while the updating is in progress.
When the upgrade is completely finished the message “Software has been updated” will be displayed.

• Turn off the ignition from your car / demo board
• Remove the SD card from the set

The upgrade was successful if the Version (see point 1) has become SW330.
The Bluetooth software of your unit is updated.

Questions & Answers:
Q : What if my set shows “n/a” on Bluetooth software version information?
A : Please press “Software Update” button again on Bluetooth Software Update screen to retry the process.

Q : What if the set switches off while updating software?
A : Turn off the ignition key and turn on again. Then perform the whole procedure on point 6.

Q : What if I cannot upgrade my set / the set does not show the start up screen after more than 1 attempt?
A : Please contact your local Pioneer service organisation for a product check-up.
