"I just purchased a PDP-LX5090. This has to be the best panel in the world. Colours, contrast and blacks; nothing to touch it. Just glad I bought one."

"I bought this LCD and I'm stunned by the quality of the picture, especially when I playback my own recorded HD movies. It's like you are standing in the middle of the scene. I will recommend this very high quality TV to all my friends."

Jonathan Ross

"The best by far, in both stylish good looks and ease of use"

Jonathan Ross

"I am, I believe, what is known as an 'early adopter'. Over the years I've had just about every games console, portable media storage device, mobile phone and solar powered cappucino maker on the market. I bought the first portable Apple Mac when it came out in the late 1980's, at a cost of about 97,000 pounds in today's money. It was only really portable if you had biceps like Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I once managed to blow the fuses on an entire floor of a hotel in Madrid by plugging it using a faulty transformer. So it won't surprise you to know that I have already worked my way through about a dozen plasma televisions since they first appeared and offered us a sleeker, brighter future with more floor space. They have all been lovely, and I don't regret a penny I spent on any of them. But the best by far, in both stylish good looks and ease of use, not to mention sparkling, crisp, beautiful picture quality, are those made by those nice people at Pioneer. I like them so much I now have 23, and am looking to buy some more walls so I can hang even more of them on display. Thank you Pioneer. PS Does anyone want to buy some mp3 sunglasses with a built in digital camera? I have the only pair in the country."

Thandie Newton

"The KURO perfectly embodies the moving picture as it should be seen"

Thandie Newton, Actress

"Television viewing is a ceremony for me. Kids, work... I rarely find myself in front of the box. When I do it's for something special, so it's important that the quality of the picture reflects that. Coming from Cinema I always felt that television was not the right medium for watching film. A darkened theatre, sound all around, and a screen to fill the panorama of your vision is the only way to see a great movie. Nowadays in the multiplex I feel cheated; it's roulette as to whether you get the 20 footer or the lap-top size screen, both for the exorbitant price of sometimes £12!

But with my KURO I am guaranteed the cinema experience, in my own home. A comfy sofa, popcorn, curtains drawn and my living room is transformed. The impeccable sound, rich texture of colour and picture detail. The slang term 'the box' needs a rethink, because aesthetically the KURO is not only a flat screen, it sits so slim and flat to the wall that it's more like a painting. A moving painting. The KURO perfectly embodies the moving picture as it should be seen."

Dirk van Braeckel

"The KURO provides a sound and vision experience of the highest quality I have ever experienced"

Dirk van Braeckel, Chief Director of Design, Bentley Motors

"Black is Beautiful: When I first saw the KURO coming out of its box it looked deep black and very solid. Not the plastic finish you usually see on a TV set. But deep solid perfect black. Like a piano. Although now hidden within a Victorian fireplace surround, once revealed, the KURO becomes the centrepiece of entertainment technology in our home.

The KURO provides a sound and vision experience of the highest quality I have ever experienced. The colours are not only vivid but also realistic. The crystal clear sharp HD picture provides an intense viewing experience and impresses time and time again. The sound quality gives a deeper involvement like in a cinema. The functionality is logical and easy to understand.

Iconic style, understated yet powerful presence and a top quality experience sums it up. For me the KURO is the ultimate TV by far, no doubt!

Dylan Jones

"Not only does it offer rather wonderful HD picture quality and enveloping surround sound, but it also replicates the theatrical experience"

Dylan Jones, GQ Magazine, Editor

"As more and more people are abandoning the cinema and building their own mini versions at home, it is hardly surprising that many of us are turning to products like the brilliant Pioneer Kuro. Not only does it offer rather wonderful HD picture quality and enveloping surround sound, but it also replicates the theatrical experience. The screen also rather cleverly adapts to the amount of light in the room, which is certainly a feature which comes into play when you're trying to watch football in the middle of the day. The Kuro is an experience for you to lose yourself in. Unsurprisingly, it is also incredibly stylish, and the combination of the flat screen and the black casing makes it perfect for your matt black bachelor dream home or your country retreat. We have all got used to having plasmas and LCDs screens in our home, so the competition is fierce, making it more and more important what TV you decided to lose yourself in. The Kuro seems to have an innate ability to be cutting edge and welcoming at the same time, and in this day and age that is no small achievement. It is simply a great piece of kit."

Simon Mills

"The combination of precision definition, crystal clarity and a whole new tonal spectrum"

Simon Mills, GQ Magazine, Contributing Editor

"We watched Martin Scorsese's 'Casino' on the first night our Pioneer KURO was installed. What a revelation! The combination of precision definition, crystal clarity and a whole new tonal spectrum meant it was like seeing this epic, 12 year old cinematic masterpiece for the very first time.

The famous "deep black levels" of the screen (apparently, up to 80% deeper than on other TVs) provided super rich colours that were, like the twinkling bright lights of the infamous Las Vegas Strip itself, suddenly ultra vivid and hyper-real. Joe Pesci was properly, almost tangibly, menacing. Sharon Stone appeared to be more incandescently ravishable than ever and the sheen on Robert De Niro's amazing wardrobe of silky, iridescent suits had never shimmered quite so elegantly.

Amazing how such a flat screen can deliver such incredible depth. This sleek example of subtly finessed, entertainment technology now sits in a corner of our bedroom. Its beautiful lines and brooding, black architecture silently seduce us into progressively earlier and earlier nights in front of its wide and handsome screen, reassuringly weighty remote contol unit in hand...all house telephones set to voicemail."

Alan Carr

"It's gorgeous, slick, state of the art"

Alan Carr, Comedian

"Well what can I say about my brand new Widescreen Pioneer Television? Well it's gorgeous, slick, state of the art, and that's why it's such a shame I only watch tacky sh*t on it. Oh yes, I wish I could do the television justice by watching those cool American dramas, like the Sopranos, or Ugly Betty but no, give me 'Extreme Makeover U.K' or 'Most Haunted' anyday. Maybe one day they'll combine the two programmes and Derek Acorah will get possessed by a morbidly obese person and spend the night in a Haunted Greggs. I would pay to see that, Yvette Fielding screaming as she sees an orb hovering above a pasty. I love it."

Ian Callum

"It demonstrates a tonal contrast not seen on conventional screens. The picture is intense and bright... fantastic!"

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars

"The KURO screen has a visual clarity and a purity that fits perfectly into any modern living environment. It is important that the screen in your room is seen as an element of discerning choice and good design... even before it is switched on! The black reflective surfaces are pure and uncluttered portraying a confidence and strength of technical prowess. Beautiful! However, once the picture appears the pure black outline disappears into the background giving way to a picture of great depth and density. The colors are incredibly strong, and dark is super black! As with any good piece of art, the image has depth that draws you in. It demonstrates a tonal contrast not seen on conventional screens. The picture is intense and bright... fantastic!!"

David Adjaye

"The sound and picture quality are unparalleled"

David Adjaye, Leading UK Architect

"The KURO Plasma HDTV is a truly incredible product. Its glossy jet-black housing is aesthetically appealing and fits in nicely into our boardroom. I am amazed that the screen brightness and clarity adjusts to the light levels in the room - this is particularly important for our valuable client presentations. The sound and picture quality are unparalleled and the accuracy of which is essential. Film playback is smooth and has a remarkable amount of detail and accuracy. I am impressed."

Lauren Cuthbertson

"It has a unique picture quality with a crystal clear colour, it's my 'black beauty'"

Lauren Cuthbertson, Principal, The Royal Ballet

"It was like Christmas all over again when my Pioneer KURO arrived. It was carried into the living room and was set up in minutes. The work men announced that they needed to collect some more equipment to finish the job so out they went. On their return I realised that I had sat in front of the TV as if I were watching a programme, but I wasn't. The TV was off and I was simply mesmerised with the super sleek dream machine. It was love before I had even switched it on. Once it was in its full glory I finally discovered why the KURO is so special. It has a unique picture quality with a crystal clear colour, it's my 'black beauty'"

Dolly Jones

"The screen looks amazing - it's sexy and sleek - the perfect black number for your home!"

Dolly Jones, Editor, www.vogue.com

"We chose the KURO to display VOGUE.COM's London Fashion Week footage in Harvey Nichols' Fashion Cafe this season - I couldn't have chosen a better screen to accentuate the kaleidoscope of colours on London's catwalks - the KURO delivered the ultimate front row experience. It also helps that the screen looks amazing - it's sexy and sleek - the perfect black number for your home!"

Nick Foulkes

"Clarity that makes real-life look low def"

Nick Foulkes, Luxury Journalist and Author

"Having a KURO television is like taking a stealth bomber as a lodger. Given that my previous televisual equipment would not have been unfamiliar to Mr John Logie Baird, I feel like I have been catapulted from the Dark Ages straight to the 21st century, missing out everything in between; one day I was plodding along with the old cathode ray tube, the horse and cart if you like, and the next I find myself having the private jet experience of the KURO. Certainly I have no grasp of the concept of the black being 80% deeper black than other tellies - in fact I was rather worried that this meant that it would be so dark I wouldn't be able to see anything... not a bit of it... clarity that makes real-life look low def and sound quality that makes even listening to what I still insist on calling the wireless a revelation. My only complaint is that although the picture and the sound are better than anything I have experienced at home and the remote control has a pleasingly heavy and quality feel in the hand, KURO has not been able to improve the quality of what is broadcast, I suppose I will have to wait for the second generation KURO before I notice an improvement in the quality of television content."

Jonathan Margolis

"The image has an extraordinary quality I haven't seen replicated in any other TV on the market."

Jonathan Margolis, Financial Times How to Spend It

"Plasma flat TVs, which most people think are inferior to the more common LCD screens, are actually rather better - especially if you like the cinema-like experience of watching films in a darkened room. Among the minority of manufacturers who produce plasma screens, one, Pioneer, has come up with a model, the Kuro, that reviewers are saying is probably the best TV ever. I agree the image has an extraordinary quality I haven't seen replicated in any other TV on the market. The blacks are deep and perfect, movement is astonishingly well rendered and the picture just has an overall quality that's currently unbeatable."

Gavin Turk

"I have been very impressed by the flexibility of the Kuro Screen."

Gavin Turk, Artist

"As an artist I have always used various methods of digital film and video, to generate artworks as well as to document events and performances. I work with many different methods of digital film production and I have been very impressed by the flexibility of the 42" Kuro Screen. The screen has plug-ins for laptops, stills cameras, or video cameras and is simple to use, accepting different scale, proportion and connectivity of input.

The screen is large, flat and well designed and it therefore makes the perfect monitor for viewing HD imagery, whether made by me or other artists. As well as for my studio practice, the screen is a hit with my teenagers, who think it is the coolest TV screen and invite all their friends over to hang out in the 'cinema'."
