CD-BTB200 Bluetooth Adapter

Frequently asked questions: Car Audio (25)

  • I connected my iPod via the CD-IB100 adapter to my car stereo but it only shows the battery icon of my iPod on the screen of the iPod.

    1) Check the connection of the iPod interface (CD-IB100) with your head unit. The blue IP-bus connection on the head unit needs to be connected to the black IP-bus connection (IP-bus out) on the iPod interface or no song or control of the iPod is possible.
    2) Reset your head unit after connection was made (see instruction manual from head unit)
    3) Check if your headphones are unplugged from the iPod.
    4) Check if your iPod was reset (see instruction manual from iPod).

  • Can I plug a portable MP3 player or walkman in a Pioneer car unit?

If you have an IP-Bus enabled head unit (except the KEH-P1010R and KEH-P1013R because they have no AUX function available), the connection interface CD-RB20 or IP-RCA, IP-Bus to RCA interconnector can be used to connect the external audio source to your Pioneer in car unit.
Depending on your model, it's possible that you have a direct aux-in.
After installing, do not forget to switch AUX to ON in the function menu.
If your model has a P in its name like this, DEH-P... or ANH-P9R, then you have an IP-bus.
Models with IP-bus but which has no AUX function will also not work with CD-IB100-2, CD-BTB100/200 and CD-UB100.

  • Is my original car stereo compatible with Pioneer CD changers?

Yes, original factory installed radio's can be connected to Pioneer CD Changers. For this we have CD-to-radio interfaces available. Check the link below to find the correct interface, if available.
You cannot connect a Pioneer car stereo to a CD changer from another brand.

  • The person on the other side hears an echo during the call, while I can understand him clearly.

Make sure that the microphone is located in the speaking direction of the driver, with a maximum distance of 30cm (12inch).
The microphone should not be near a car speaker as this will enhance the echo problem.
Beware that there is no air current aimed at the microphone and never cover the back side of the microphone.

Lower the volume on the headunit during a call to a level that is still acceptable (high volumes will enhance the echo problem).
It is not advised to use another microphone than the one supplied with our unit, because other microphones have different characteristics and this can lead to worse quality.

Use the link of the Decision tree to solve general Bluetooth problems.

If this doesn't solve the problem, please contact your dealer for further investigation.

  • Is my phone compatible with my car stereo and what is it able to do?

The level of compatibility and the features offered depend on the phone you have and the profiles it supports. Most phones can at least pair with the head unit and enable handsfree communication. Once your contacts are transferred to the head unit you can dial them from the head unit. If your phone is not on the list we would recommend trying your phone on a head unit at your local Pioneer dealer. So far in our testing the only Bluetooth enabled phones we have found not to be handsfree compatible are the Sony Ericsson P900 and SHARP GX30/31/32 phones.
You can always have the phone updated to the latest Bluetooth version.

    Audio streaming compatibility:
All BT audio phones are tested on BT audio, but only the ones which are recommendable are mentioned on the BT compatibility list. Audio quality will depend on the bit rate used for the original track which is stored on thephone.

  • The display of my DEH-P70BT or DEH-P55BT shows error code 80 for my car stereo.

Please turn the car ignition off and then back on to clear error code 80.
If this persists, please send your unit to your local authorized service centre (ASC) for inspection.

  • I'm losing my channel presets or sound settings when the car stereo is switched off.

Check your cable connection and especially the following colours.
It's possible that the red and yellow cables are switched
YELLOW : Has to be connected to the battery for constant battery voltage(12V)
RED : Has to be connected to the ignition switch of your car
(Check the manual because for certain cars, a.o. Volkswagen and Opel, these cables are switched).

  • When I have an incoming call, the name of the caller does not always appear on the screen of my car stereo?

Our units compare the incoming telephone call with the telephone numbers in his memory. If these match, the unit shows the name stored in the phone book.

Problems that can cause no name coming on the screen:
    - Contact information of the caller is not in the headunit. (It's not because a contact is in the cellphone, that it is present in the headunit).
    - The incoming call could be +32 477 ... whereas the number in memory is just 0032477... or 0477...
    - The same name is stored twice in the headunit memory.
    - CLI (Call line identification) should be enabled on the phone in order to receive the phone number.
    - A person is calling from a private number. (CLI= disabled)

Phone numbers should be transfered with country prefix. Always send a card instead of a phone number, e.g.: +3235688706

  • Which steering wheel remote control and display driver adapter do I need for my car stereo?

Available adapter types (dependant on car brand and manufacturing year):
    - Infrared steering wheel remote control adapters (only if the headunit is infrared-ready).
    - Hard-wired steering wheel remote control adapters (only if the headunit has this input).
(Most normal functions will be able to be used but car model specific features like voice activation and bluetooth radio control will not work with Pioneer radios. The functionality of the stalk control will be limited by the functionality of the radio. Most interfaces will have following possibilities:
    Volume UP/Down, TRACK/ STATION UP/DOWN, RADIO ON/OFF, SCAN UP/DOWN, FFW/REW.)
    - Car display driver adapters (= hard-wired adapter + display controller).

For all these adapters, please click on the car accessories list.

Through IP-bus you cannot connect an adapter to the original steering wheel control.

Open the 'DEH reference list' to check the available options (Remote Control Ready, Hardwired or SubDisplay) of the Head Unit.

    In case of problems:
    - Check the instructions on the installation sheet (available on the Instruction manual link)
    - Disconnect the car battery before installing the adapter
    - Reset the Head Unit
    - Reset the car computer (by car dealer)
    - Last option: replace the adapter

  • To which devices can I connect the ND-BC1, ND-BC2 and ND-BC20PA?

This 'mirror image' NTSC high-quality universal camera can be hooked up to all Pioneer AV and navigation units with a screen.
Its compact size allows for installation in virtually any location.

The AVIC-S1 and AVIC-S2 models are exceptions where the rear camera cannot be connected!

  • Why are not all mobile phones (e.g. PDA's with Windows OS) supported by Pioneer BT products?

The Bluetooth standard is open for too much interpretations.
Our software is developed to support a wide spectrum of implementations.
Unfortunately, the specifications of some units differ too much (e.g. some pocket PC phones).

  • Can I connect an iPod on the front of my car stereo or navigation unit?

Depending on your headunit, you can play audio and even video via your iPod.
You can always connect the headphone connection of your iPod to the AUX input.
In the attached list, you'll see if your iPod is compatible with your headunit.

  • I get a message on the screen of my navigation unit 'Caution: screen image may appear reverse' when using my rear view camera. Can I remove this message?

No, this is not possible, because of safety reasons. The navigation unit doesn't know which camera (mirror or not) is connected and therefore it displays this message.

  • Is it possible to view the image of the rear camera without putting the car into rear gear?

Yes. Use the view modes and choose rear view. Here you can see the rear camera and navigation without putting the car in rear gear.

AVIC-HD1BT, AVIC-HD3BT, AVIC-D3, AVIC-X3: Press the MAP button (twice) and select rear view.
AVIC-X1 series: Press the POS button (twice) and select rear view..

  • How do I connect a CD changer via the IP-bus?

If you want to connect several devices to a navigation unit or car stereo using the IP-bus, you need to connect the CD-changer last in row.
CD-changers have only 1 IP connection, so another device can't be connected to this one. That's why it needs to be last in the row of devices connected with IP-cable.
