Can I connect my computer to the receiver via the RS-232 input?
The RS-232 input on the receiver can be used for graphical display during the Advanced MCACC setup and to control the receiver.
Software for Advanced MCACC setup is available for download on the Pioneer website under Support -> Software downloads.
The Advanced MCACC application software allows you to view graphs of the reverb characteristics of your listening environment on a PC. It works in the same way as 'Reverb View' in 'EQ Professional' of the receiver's 'Manual MCACC' menu (see page 40 in the receiver's Operating Instructions), but the graphs are more precise and easier to understand by using a PC.

Can I use banana plugs to connect my speakers to my receiver?
This is possible for certain models, but not recommended. To connect standard 4mm banana plugs to the receiver, the black plugs in the middle of the speaker connector screws must first be removed. It is difficult, but they do come out. The banana plugs (see picture attached) can now beplugged directly into the speaker connector screw.
However Pioneer recommend to use bare speaker wire.

Which speakers can I connect to my receiver or amplifier?
Please find attached a cross table with recommended amp-speaker combinations, the info is taken from the product catalogue. Different listed combinations are possible.
Some important remarks:
Because of the below remarks, it is best that you contact your local dealer to find the best speakers for your personal setup.
1. Note that the choice which speaker set you need depends mainly on:
- budget
- bookshelf or floorstand speakers
- power rating of the amplifier for a certain impedance (8/6 Ohm)
- supported frequency range (up to 20kHz is ok for normal DVD surround, but DVD Audio and SACD need support up to 100kHz
2. Concerning power rating
- when you compare power, make sure you use the same impedance rating. (ex. VSX-AX4ASi-S: 150W/8 Ohm - 180W/6 Ohm)
- in general the power rating of the amplifier and speakers should be approx. the same (so if speakers have less power, VSX may not be set at high volume otherwise the speaker might be blown).

Bi-amplification -
The sound is coming out of my plasma instead of my AV Receiver.
If your model has only HDMI switching, it's not possible to decode audio from HDMI input. (Applicable models: VSX-1016V, VSX-917V, VSX-1017AV).
For all other models with HDMI input:

- THROUGH: audio is sent to the connected TV or plasma display
